Labwork Explanations
Chemistry Screen
This 30+ panel of tests is a combination of several of the most common lab tests
ordered in a physician’s office all rolled into one. Included is a basic lipid or cholesterol
panel, glucose, thyroid, liver, kidney, muscle and bone tests, as well as iron.
VAP Cholesterol
This is an expanded lipid profile, breaking down the HDL (“good”) cholesterol into
2 more specific types, and the LDL (“bad”) cholesterol into 3 more specific types,
giving you and your physician a more complete profile of your cholesterol health. This test
is very good if you have personal or family heart history or are on cholesterol medications.

Complete Blood Count
The CBC test is a basic overall blood health profile, including red cells, white
cells, platelets and more. This test is recommended for anyone as a baseline,
if there is a family or personal history of anemia or leukemia, or often times
is ordered pre-operatively before surgery.
Prostate-Specific Antigen
The PSA test looks for an elevated antigen that can be elevated due to abnormal
prostate cells, and is recommended for men with a family or personal prostate
history, or for men over 50 annually.
Hemoglobin A1C
An expanded glucose check, the HA1C test checks the average glucose level over
the last 120 days, rather than the basic sample in the chemistry screen. It
is recommended for diabetics, or with family history to monitor average levels
over time.
Cardio CRP
This test checks for inflammation in the arterial system, possibly indicating
coronary issues going on. This test is not recommended for post-menopausal women
or for those with arthritis, as a false positive can result, due to other inflammatory
responses in your body.
