FIRM

At its Annual Forum this year the Managed Care Executive Group announced the 2008 Top Ten issues impacting the managed healthcare industry.  Issue #6 includes the following core statement:

“Prior authorization and utilization reviews are fading, and in their place is a more collaborative model based on access, quality, safety, effectiveness and patient centeredness.”

Peak’s founding philosophy has recently been in search of a new collaborative model by which at-risk population health status can be improved, and low-risk population health status preserved.  Paradigm’s Healthy AIM health risk assessment and intervention services that were initially prioritized for serving these populations have traditionally operated mostly independent of the healthcare delivery system as a consumer-direct service.  FIRM, a fully confidential, clinically-proven wellness program, is now offered to at-risk persons whose health status is not being proactively addressed by existing Health Benefit Plan services such as disease and case management.  FIRM offers a combination of online and telephone resources that focus on restoring and preserving good health through these key components:

  • Health Risk Assessment (HRA) is a health measurement tool in which participants’ self-reported information is professionally analyzed.  HRA findings are reported to in a Personal Wellness Profile (PWP).

  • Newsletters that provide via email concise, easy to comprehend risk management information that targets identified participant-specific risks

  • myHealthOnline links to more extensive risk-management information resources for those who desire additional details

  • FIRM Care Management services for those whose conditions and risks should benefit from this additional level of service. Care management representatives will contact qualifying participants, and will conduct an initial care management interview to better understand participants’ challenging health issues so that they can assist them in improving their quality of care and quality of life.
